How to size a portable electric rebar cutter by mm

Map rebar diameter to a 16, 20, or 25 mm portable electric hydraulic class — or accept NO_MATCH above 25.

Start from diameter, not motor watts alone

Portable electric hydraulic rebar cutters are sold by published maximum bar diameter. Watts and cut time matter, but they do not replace the mm ceiling. This site maps diameter to three verified VEVOR US classes.

The ladder on this screen

Class 16 covers up to 16 mm (#5). Class 20 covers up to 20 mm (#6). Class 25 covers up to 25 mm (#8). Example: 10 → 16; 18 → 20; 22 → 25; 30 → NO_MATCH. Diameters below about 4 mm (#3) are outside this consumer ladder.

Medium and low carbon rebar only as published

These consumer cutters are listed for medium/low carbon rebar and similar soft stock. They are not for high-tensile specialty bar beyond the listing. Confirm grade and live max diameter on the product page.

PPE, sparks, hydraulic oil, and lockout

Wear eye and hand PPE. Hydraulic squeeze cuts can shed sparks and oil. Support long bars. De-energize and lock out nearby electrical before cutting. Ratings are manufacturer claims — verify the live listing. Affiliate tracking is pending.
